Cristian Vera

Born in Valencia (Venezuela) – 1977. Fine Art Photographer & Art Director who specializes in evocative images of the living world.

Cris Vera has pursued his studies of photography at California State University – Long Beach (USA) and University of the Arts London (UK). With nearly 22 years of experience, he has lived and worked in Venezuela, Spain. United States and England.

Through documentary photography, Cristian captures the essence of human struggle and joy. His passion for remote cultures and unconventional assignments has taken him to Kenya, Ethiopia, South Africa, Senegal, India, Malaysia, Thailand, Europe, Cuba, Perú…

Working in both film and digital, color and black & white, his photojournalistic style is modern and distinctive with a timeless-classical edge. Cris Vera frequently reinvents his creative approach to his work, creating vibrant and contemporary photographs that emphasize mood, expressions, gestures, color and form. He enthusiastically explores the pluralism of humanity, meaningful coincidences and simple moments.

His photography has been exhibited widely in solo and group exhibitions in
international museums and gallery venues such as The Bolivar Hall in London, The Museum of Contemporary Art (MACBA) in Barcelona, The Contemporary Art Center of Málaga (CAC), Centro Cultural Eladio Alemán Sucre (CCEAS) in Valencia-Venezuela.

Cris’s work has also been featured in important print and online publications worldwide, including BBCMUNDO.COM. Cristian has received international recognition and awards, including the “Best Young Artist award” (Athens, Greece – 2003), by The BJCEM – “Biennale des jeunes créateurs de l’Europe et de la Méditerranée”. In 2006, he was selected to be part of the IX Bienal Internacional de fotografía – AQUEDUCTE.06 (Barcelona, Spain), and in 2011, was also awarded and selected to participate in the 65 Bienal Salón Arturo Michelena, considered the most prestigious event (art contest-salón) in Venezuela.

In 2011, Cris Vera founded a Creative & Marketing Agency in Venezuela (Efeonce – Visual Strategies), where he worked for several years as Creative Director & Photographer – serving some of the most important and selected clients/companies in the country. Following his other passion and hobby (Toyota – Land Cruisers), in 2016 Cristian founded HOUSE OF CRUISERS: Land Cruisers & 4wd Specialist – Car sales, consulting, parts, restoration and vehicle scouting service.

Cristian now lives between Venezuela, Costa Rica and United States – and he is available for assignments anywhere around the globe.
